Many recurring events in the Javanese arts calendar follow a combination of the seven-day week and the five-day pasaran cycle: Kliwon, Legi, Paing, Pon, and Wagé.
Because the two cycles meet every 35 days, some events recur on a 35-day rhythm. An event associated with a particular combination often takes place on the preceding evening. A Jumat-Wage event, for example, may be held on Thursday-Pon evening.
The original 2025 calendar assembled recurring wayang and gamelan events in Solo and Yogyakarta. It was intended as a guide to regular gatherings rather than a complete list of one-off performances.
